We started our third day in New York by walking through Prospect Park in Brooklyn. From there we walked around Park Slope, admiring the brownstone homes. Around noon we headed back towards our hotel to check out a few local shops in the area and have lunch.
The afternoon started off in Central Park. It was a beautiful day to be walking around. From there we made our way towards MoMA, stopping at a few shops along the way.
I appreciated the Target Free Friday night at MoMA, but I’m not sure if it was worth it. It was so crowded, hot and hard to spend time looking at what you wanted. Next time I would pass on the free night, and pay the normal admission.
We had heard many great things about Grimaldi’s Pizzeria and planned to eat there on the third night, but the line was almost a block long. Although we expected some kind of wait, we were hungry and just wanted to sit down. Instead, we ended up at Ignazio’s Pizzeria about a block away.
After dinner we spent awhile staring at the lit up Manhattan skyline.
There was a small ice cream shop nearby and we had just enough cash left to share a dish [and add caramel!].TIP – Carry cash with you! We are so use to using a credit / debit card, that we had very little cash on us and most places are cash only. Good to know.
It was such a nice night out that we decided to walk back to the hotel. We could have looked up the fastest route on our phones, but decided just to head the direction we knew was right. It probably took us a little longer to get home, but neither one of us complained.
On our last morning in New York we didn’t have anything planned. At the last minute we decided to go on a little adventure. We looked at our NY Doughnut Map and found a place we wanted to try - so we took the train to Doughnut Plant.
After our doughnuts [I had the pistachio – so good] we had a little time to spare before packing up to head to the airport. Doughnut Plant was near Chinatown and Little Italy, so we got to check out those neighborhoods.
Before leaving, I took one final picture of our chalkboard bathroom wall, where we had been recording some of our activities from the trip. I hope the cleaning people enjoyed the art of our fun time in NY.
