catching up

Well, I guess it’s been a while since I last shared some photo sessions. It’s been so long babies have been born and celebrated first birthdays and here I am sitting on maternity shots.

Since I have a bunch of sessions to share, I’m just going to post a bunch together at a time.

Last June my cousin Katie and her husband were awaiting their second child. Katie and I took her first, Lucas, out with us for some maternity pictures one night. Less than a week later, baby Lynley arrived.

I met Lynley the day she was born. Look at that tiny little girl! Crazy to think she just celebrated her first birthday and is running around with her big brother now.

In July I met up with Mitchell, Jena and their two adorable boys. Jena’s parents also tagged along to get a few with pictures their grandsons. I loved meeting this wonderful family. We had such a nice day for a great session!

Last July I also got to meet up with Nate, Lauren and their two girls...plus baby on the way! We had a great session, while the oldest showed off her swinging skills, the youngest, who had just turned one, showed off her walking ability. Not only are these two sweet girls a joy to photograph, their two pups are always camera ready which make them a favorite of mine!

at the library

Yay! It's one of my favorite families again.

Last November we met at the library in Madison and took some pictures. I feel like our past winter started out very mild, but yet I remember this day was quite cold and windy. Luckily we were indoors.

Kenley had a smile the whole time and Schuyler didn't want to be left out and gave us a smile every now and then as well.

I'm glad I got to photograph these guys again, they are just too adorable.

Towards the end of summer last year, I went to the baby shower for my friends Amanda and JR. Amanda's sister did an amazing job planning the party which was held at the Paper Discovery Center.  There were so many desserts, we probably didn't even need real food [what am I saying, desserts ARE real food!]. But at the same time, the desserts were almost too pretty to eat!

After the presents were opened and the desserts were mostly gone, I took a picture of Amanda and our friend Rachel who was due very soon.

I also made Amanda stand in front of the huge world map because I thought it was awesome. She found the South Korea flag and prominently displayed it [her mom is from South Korea]. This is maybe a good time to remind Amanda's parents [if they are reading this] that they promised to buy us all tickets to go to the Olympics in South Korea. Don't forget your promise to us! Thanks! :)

Fast forward to September and little Willliam arrived! He came a little bit early but grew strong and a few weeks later he was home.

We first went to meet him after he had come home. We were greeted by William's dog cousins Macy + Mister [or is it Uncle? or Bronx? this dog has too many names...] who wanted nothing to do with me.

William's dog sister Jam didn't really care for me either, but at least she posed nicely on the couch. And gave me the stink eye.

ANYWAY, let's talk about that baby!

William slept most of the time we were there, but woke up a few times to say hi. He was so sweet, snuggly and adorable. I can't wait to see him again, especially now that he's bigger than the dogs. [Watch out pups!]

the l family

I met up with the wonderful L family on a chilly fall morning last year. Aiden was still getting ready while his older brother Chase hid from me. As soon as everyone was ready we were out the door and across the street at the most perfect location. Birch trees with yellow / green leaves? Yes, please.

We walked the neighborhood a bit more and at a small park, Chase decided to get a book from the little library. The book he picked out had a giant jack-o'-lantern on the cover which seemed appropriate as Halloween was drawing near.

Both boys did so well and were so much fun! By the end of the session Chase even had ideas of where he wanted his picture taken AND he really wanted to show me how he could smash a pumpkin with some gardening tools. I call that a pretty successful session.

the w family

After the morning session with a boy and his three dogs, I met up with the W family. I had been around all these kids earlier in the year at a few birthday parties so they weren't too shy around me.

The youngest, Brynleigh, hung out quietly while her brothers and sister ran around. I love capturing kids being kids so I'm glad they did their thing while I snapped some pictures. Owen and Oliver found some great sticks and for a little while were using them as bats to hit the tiny bouncy ball that Briar had brought with her.

We then got some family pictures right before throwing the kids on a pile while they all laughed hysterically - which was quite contagious I might add.

As the session was ending, Briar suddenly remembered she forgot to put on her cross earrings and asked for one more picture to show them off.

It was a great way to end the weekend with these adorable kids!

the r family

I met the R family last fall at their home. They had a wonderful yard, made even more spectacular with the leaves which were all turning color. It started out a little chilly, but warmed up as the sun came out.

Baby Clayton did so well. He was wide awake and did not fuss one bit. That little boy is sure a cutie.

And as if this family couldn't get any better - they had three dogs! Have I mentioned I love taking pictures of animals? [Yes. The answer is yes.]

I guess I should be thanking the R family for providing the perfect location and wonderful subjects to work with. THANKS you guys!!

the c family

Last fall I got to see baby Brooklyn again! Although I guess now she is 1 year old Brooklyn. She's still adorable, so that stayed the same.

Through some connections her parents had, we were able to use the land on a nearby farm. If you saw my previews from this session on Facebook last year, you read that this farm used to be where we went when I was younger to get pumpkins and apples. It's no longer open to the public, but I'm glad we got to walk around since there were some great spots for pictures.

Brooklyn's parents were thinking ahead and brought with them a wagon, bale of hay and pumpkins. The props worked great in the setting.

I'm glad I was able to see this precious girl along with her parents again.

baby rohan

Look at this little guy! Rohan is so adorable.

You might remember his parents and big [dog] brother Charlie from this post

I got to meet Rohan last fall. Two of his cousins were there as well [sorry, you'll have to make it to the end of this post to find out who].

I love all the little hand gestures he made throughout his photo shoot. Seriously, he's the cutest.

Also - check out the Lord of the Rings map his dad painted in his room. How amazing did it turn out?!  Hope if you guys ever move you can cut that wall out and take it with you! ;)

Surprise! Look who else was there! Cousins Kenley + Schuyler! Hey guys!

newborn schuyler

A week ago I posted the maternity shoot for my friends Dave + Rachel. Today I'm posting about their newborn Schuyler.

I appreciate that Schuyler decided to be born before I went overseas in August. I mean, I could have waited until I came back to meet him, but I'm just sayin' - his timing worked out great. Thanks buddy.

He was awake for most of the time I was there, with a nap here and there. While we took pictures indoors, his dad and older sister Kenley were outside playing in the water.

Also, did you see that Dave's tattoo had been finished since the last photo shoot?
